Title: Dynamics of a tick population model with stages and environment factors

Abstract: West Nile virus is a type of mosquito-borne disease which can cause severe illness in humans. Mosquitoes play a critical role in the transmission and spread of the diseases. We propose a system of equations to model the transmission of West Nile virus between mosquitoes and avian hosts. The system compromises five equations in which maturation delay in mosquitoes is incorporated. Analytical analysis shows that mosquitoes can force the system to oscillate under the impact of maturation delay while the species interaction enhances the oscillation. Our analysis indicates the existence of period doubling bifurcation, and fold bifurcation of period solutions as well as the existence of a bi-stability in the form of a boundary periodic solution and a positive periodic solution. This is a collaborated work with Prof. Chunhua Shan (The University of Toledo) and Prof. Huaiping Zhu (York University).

主讲人概况:

范桂红,2009年毕业于加拿大麦克马斯特大学(McMaster Univeristy)获理学博士学位。2009年二月至2011年八月在约克大学(York Univesity)做博士后,2011年九月到2013年六月在亚利桑那州立大学(Arizona State University)做访问教授(Visiting Assistant Professor). 从2013年七月起,任教于美国哥伦布州立大学。现在为该校数学系副教授。

一、研究方向:主要研究兴趣为泛函微分方程理论及其在生物数学中的应用。特别是时间滞后系统在媒介传播疾病中的建模,理论分析,及其优化控制。

二、主要学术兼职:已在Journal of Dynamics and Differential Equations, Mathematical Biosciences, Journal of Mathematical Biology,Canadian Applied Mathematics Quarterly,Discrete and Continuous Dynamical System, Nonlinear Dynamics, Applicable Analysis等国际刊物发表论文二十余篇。
